REVIEW: A Gathering of Shadows by V E Schwab

It’s been four months since Lila Bard left Red London, four months since Athos and Astrid Dane’s fall, four months since a terrible dark magic threatened to consume a city, but life hasn’t reverted to normal for Kell. If anything it’s like the calm before the storm. He is restless but the walls are closing in around him. Now more than ever he feels like the property of the Arnesian crown and the awe of the citizens has been replaced by fear and distrust.

He’s always felt the responsibility of protecting his brother, Rhy, but now that their lives are inextricably linked the weight of it threatens to crush him. He needs some way to channel his emotions and the growing force of magic, and Rhy has orchestrated the perfect scenario to do just that.

Guys, it’s the last WWW before Christmas! I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone. It doesn’t seem real that 2017 is coming to an end, but I’ve read some fantastic books (and had some fantastic things happen). So, Merry Christmas everyone!

BOOKISH FINDS: The Charity Shelf

One of the things I love about my internship is that I’m constantly surrounded by books. There are shelves everywhere I look, and on those shelves are stories that I would really love to read. The other thing is that I’m surrounded by people who love books and are generous with them too. We have a charity shelf in the lobby of the building where people leave books once they’ve finished them for other people to enjoy. It’s a great system, and I’ve picked up some books I’ve wanted to read in for a while:

It’s been a whole month since I joined in with Top Ten Tuesday, but I’m glad to get back into the swing of things with this week’s topic. I’ve read some great books this year, and this is a brilliant opportunity to reflect on them (and maybe get others to read them too!)

THAT’S A WRAP: November 2017

The festive season is in full swing. There’s a literal blizzard (almost) outside my window and I’ve already consumed a generous supply of minced pies, chocolates and most drinks that are spiced or mulled. Needless to say my November wrap-up is not the most timely. I know. I’m rubbish. Ironically this is my first post in December, but I’m spending the rest of the afternoon writing and scheduling so that my December wrap-up won’t be the winter equivalent of tumbleweed in the desert (…a snowball in the Arctic?). Anyway here it is!
