He does what is necessary to fit in at school, wearing his safety goggles on his head, skipping classes and takes part in the bullying of one of his classmates. He takes sex advice from Chips, the ringleader of his group, and is hyper aware of his parents shortcomings. But at the same time he has an intelligence and curiosity that isn’t shared by his peers, and an investment in his parent’s relationship that means he monitors the dimmer switch in their bedroom with far too much intensity. BOOKISH FINDS: Book Bundle

I think we all know the drill by now. When it comes to books, I can’t be stopped. It’s like unleashing a moth in a room filled with bright lights. My bank account might be singed but I still can’t help myself. I went online to specifically buy Joe Dunthorne’s Submarine and some other books for my uni work (it doesn’t count if it’s educational) and then once I’d ordered them, I realised I’d bought everything but Submarine. MISC: Welsh Authors We Should Read

dsc_02041It’s unusual for me to post twice in one day. If anything, it’s sometimes a struggle for me to post twice in one week. But, today is St. David’s Day. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that I’m Welsh in the last few blog entries (I probably have), but I am, and its something I’ve always been proud of. We may be a small country, but we are fierce. It’s been a few years since I spent St. David’s Day at home, and although I don’t have any cawl or welshcakes, I’m still feeling patriotic.
