REVIEW: Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton

I know very little about love. Most of the time I feel like I know very little about anything. I don’t know if I’ll ever have a career, or be able to afford my own home, or have a long-term relationship. Being a millennial seems to be largely about trying to figure it all out and when you’ve think you have someone’s gone and moved the goal posts. The comforting thing about reading Dolly Alderton’s memoir Everything I Know About Love is that I’m not alone in feeling this.It’s a memoir that covers a broad spectrum of topics, from friendships to relationships, from the perfect mac and cheese to Rod Stewart themed parties, from grief to hope.

REVIEWS: Release by Patrick Ness

Adam is preparing for Enzo’s leaving party and he has mixed feelings about it. They’ve drifted apart but Adam can’t forget what they once were to each other, no matter what Enzo says. For Adam their relationship was more than just messing around and he suspects it was the same for Enzo too, but now Enzo is moving away and any possibility that they might restart what was so abruptly finished seems less and less likely. 

MISC: Hay Festival 2018

Last Friday I took the train home to spend the Bank Holiday weekend in bibliophile heaven: Hay-on-Wye. I packed light because I knew that buying books was just a possibility, it was a given. It was my second time visiting the festival and the little town bursting with bookshops, and the previous year I had gone into a manic frenzy, buying books after each event, queuing up for half an hour to get it signed and then rushing to the next talk. By the end of the May Bank Holiday in 2017 I had sixteen books, an alarmed mother, and a considerably lighter purse.

As a seasoned Hay-goer, this year I decided to take a slightly less intense approach. I booked slightly less events I asked myself whether or not I would read the books in the next year or so. I still haven’t read all the books I bought last year.

Does anyone know what happened to May? I’m pretty sure it snuck past me when my back was turned. I have been doing a lot of running around this month. I don’t think there was one weekend in May that I actually stayed at home. This is the first weekend in a while that I’ve done absolutely nothing! And by nothing I mean catching up on blogging and the admin of life.
