Shortlisted for The Man Booker Prize in 2016, All That Man Is is a novel that surprisingly lends itself to the short story form. Instead of chapters there are nine sections that follow the lives of nine separate men, starting with young teenagers on the cusp of adulthood, travelling abroad for the first time and ending with a retired man, recovering from a serious operation. In a way that novel comes full circle, starting with Simon and Ferdinand’s inter-railing experience, and ending with Simon’s grandfather, anxious and alone. I’ve been back in rainy, occasionally sunny Wales for a week, and done a placement at a publishers, which was more than a dream come true. So although I finished two books this week, I also read two manuscripts, of which I can say nothing because it’s top secret. BOOKISH FINDS: Book Bundle

I think we all know the drill by now. When it comes to books, I can’t be stopped. It’s like unleashing a moth in a room filled with bright lights. My bank account might be singed but I still can’t help myself. I went online to specifically buy Joe Dunthorne’s Submarine and some other books for my uni work (it doesn’t count if it’s educational) and then once I’d ordered them, I realised I’d bought everything but Submarine.
