The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

Hello, it’s me. I haven’t done a WWW Wednesday since the middle of October which seems shocking. I have been reading, I swear – but I read a couple of manuscripts during my internship that I can’t really talk about, so I’ll stick to the books I have read. It’s been a slow few weeks on the reading front but I have finished a few. Continue reading “WWW WEDNESDAY: 8th November 2017”

THAT’S A WRAP: October 2017

EtheringtonHeaders-That's A Wrap

This wrap-up is slightly belated but it’s here. Hurray. I feel like I’ve been using the ‘I’ve been busy’ excuse a lot recently, and I’m sorry. I won’t use it again. This is the last you’ve heard of it, I promise (until my next post where I apologise for being busy, again). But October has been a great month even if the blogging has been a little irregular.

Reviews

Reading Summary

This month I’ve read four books. It’s not as many as I would have liked, but I have read a few manuscripts too which technically count!

  • We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
  • Recipes for Love and Murder by Sally Andrews
  • Fever by Deon Meyer
  • The Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz

Books Bought

I’ve been pretty good this month I have to say!

I left my job in the middle of the month and had a belated birthday present, and that meant I got a few books as gifts which was super lovely.

  • Autumn by Ali Smith
  • On Writing by Stephen King
  • To Esme with Love and Squalor by J D Salinger

Other news

October has been a BIG MONTH for me. I quit my job, I left Liverpool, I moved up to London, I started an internship. I dropped my phone down the toilet (sad, but extremely true). I’ve done a lot of things I wasn’t expecting and that might have meant a quieter reading month, but it’s been busy in all other aspects of my life. I’m not sure I’ll be able to blog as much as I’d like but I’ll definitely try. I’m only hoping that November is as good as this month has been!

REVIEW: Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz

Anthony Horowitz plays with the idea of the fourth wall in this murder mystery where life imitates art in deadly ways. Susan Ryeland, an editor for a small but established publishing house Cloverleaf, returns from a book tour to find the latest manuscript for the Atticus Pund series. She never liked the author, Alan Conway, their relationship if strictly business, but she is eager to read the next instalment in one of the most popular crime series in the UK. It’s been a lovely relaxing week at home, and it’s meant I finally got round to doing some serious reading, amongst the other hectic packing and organising activities. I’ve finished a book that took me a while to get through because I had so much stuff to do recently and I’m hoping I can manage to squeeze in another read before I start my internship next week. I’ve been making some pretty good process this week, making my way through the books I was given before I start my internship. It’s definitely given me the chance to branch out and read books that I wouldn’t necessarily have picked up myself, but I’ve actually enjoyed! Continue reading “WWW WEDNESDAY- 4th October 2017”

MISC: Top Ten Tuesday- 1st August 2017

toptentuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a different topic that one of their bloggers answers, and they invite others to join in either by posting their answers as a comment or by creating their own blog post.

Top Ten Tuesday is taking a break for a couple of weeks. I only started taking part in TTT a few months ago, so I thought in the meantime I’d look through some of the old topics. Luckily there are literally hundreds to choose from, so I have enough to keep me busy until it starts back up in August! This week I’m revisiting 10 Books I Picked Up on a Whim, so I’m going to share 10 books I impulsively bought that are on my TBR!
